A Simple Meditation you can do in your home, to get your mind calm again

Greetings, Dharma Vibers!

We are currently living in uncertain times. Millions around the world are rightfully staying indoors, self-quarantining to protect against the Novel Coronavirus. I'm sure you've already heard about what you can do to protect yourself from the virus physically - today, I want to share with you something to protect yourself mentally, from the stress and anxiety of these unprecedented times.

This is one of my favorite meditations to perform. It only involves you, a peaceful place, and a timer.

1. First, set your timer for 10 minutes. You can set it for longer as you get more experienced, but for now, 10 minutes will be fine. Then, close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply in and out through your nose using your diaphragm. You can sit in a chair or lie down on your bed - whatever you prefer.

2. As you are breathing, count each breath from 1 to 10. If you lose track of what number you are on, simply restart from 1. After you get to 10, restart at number 1. You may think this sounds easy, but your mind loves to play tricks on you to make you lose your count!

3. When the timer rings, open your eyes slowly, and gradually come back into this world. Your mind just went through an experience, and it needs time to adjust back to reality. Pro tip - if your alarm is on your phone, be sure to pick a ringtone that is peaceful. This way you won't be surprised when it goes off!

That is all for now! Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming blog in the next few days -. Until then, stay safe & be well.
